WiFi packet loss test: what the results mean
Detect whether wireless instability is causing packet loss, lag spikes, bad calls, or buffering. Compare results over WiFi and Ethernet to see whether the router or internet line is the problem.
Common WiFi packet loss causes
- Weak signal through walls or floors.
- Interference from neighboring networks.
- Crowded 2.4 GHz channels.
- Router CPU overload or outdated firmware.
Fix WiFi packet loss
- Move closer to the router or use mesh backhaul.
- Switch to 5 GHz or 6 GHz when possible.
- Try Ethernet for calls and gaming.
- Reboot or update the router firmware.
